FAQ
As a web developer, I usually build sites with WordPress as it’s open-source, cost-effective, and allows you to make changes to the site without a developer’s help. WordPress is a CMS or Content Management System. It’s written in PHP and allows you to upload photos, change site content, and more without always having to add code. I’m open to working with other website builder platforms, but they may cost more as they usually require subscriptions.
The main downside of website builders like Wix and Squarespace is that they lock you into subscriptions that you can’t get out of without losing your website. WordPress is open-source and exists as code that is deployed to hosting, meaning you own your website and its code.
As a professional developer, I’ll be your interactive guide through the process of designing, developing, and deploying your website. I have industry experience with web development languages like HTML, CSS, Javascript, Typescript, and PHP and can customize your site from the ground up.
Typically, a website is built in 4 phases:
- Discovery – Initial call to determine website needs and design ideas
- Design – Prototyping your website with a design software and iterating until approved
- Development – Building the site based on the approved design with WordPress
- Deployment – Pushing your website to the hosting of your choice (mine or yours, depending on needs) and watching it for any issues
All these phases together take 1-3 weeks depending on design iterations and the type of site.
Nope! Once the site is built, it’s all yours, unlike other all-in-one solutions like squarespace or wix.
You’ll have to handle your own domain/hosting, though, which will be a small additional monthly fee. These are necessary for every single website on the internet.
If you’d prefer that someone else take care of all the hosting and maintenance of the site, I’d be happy to! Please read below for more details.
As a web developer and as someone who handles their own high-speed hosting, I’m happy to take care of the maintenance and hosting of your site for you. Please note, this is not required, as your site is fully customizable via WordPress Gutenberg blocks and custom code.
